The CIM Users Group is meeting in June 2018 in Slovenia to focus on how to use the CIM to create and support the data-driven utility. This is an appropriate location for this topic given the current interest in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe. ENTSO-E has already migrated to a CIM-based solution for data exchanges between Transmission System Operators (TSOs) all over Europe. Now the interest in using the IEC CIM standards for data exchanges between TSOs and DSOs, DSO-DSO as well as within the utility enterprise for system integration is growing fast. You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn from the experts and collaborate with other utilities on best practices for creating and managing CIM-based solutions.
The Data-Driven Utility
Utilities are now collecting and storing vast amounts of data regarding their operational systems with the goal of using that data to improve reliability, service metrics, customer satisfaction and asset utilization. Many existing legacy systems are isolated and fragmented lacking a unified approach to data management and resulting in barriers to interoperability and integration. Many utilities are adapting a data-driven architecture for enterprise integration based on the IEC CIM standards as the means by they can turn this data into information that can be more easily used to improve the utility enterprise's performance.
CIM Users Group Meeting
The CIM Users Group meeting is a 3 day event that begins with a one day CIM University program on 5 June, 2018. The CIM University is a pre-conference CIM tutorial that is open to members and non-members to learn CIM basics, enterprise integration and related standards. Registration is available for the one day tutorial at a special rate and is included in the full conference pass at no additional charge. The remaining two day conference starting on 6 June, 2018 presents utility case studies, project summaries, standards updates and panel discussions to present best practices in how utilities are becoming data-driven using the CIM. Lunch is provided and there will be a Thursday evening hospitality event to help facilitate social networking with industry leaders and peers.
Vendor Demonstration Tables & Sponsorship Opportunities
Vendors are encouraged to become a meeting sponsor or to sponsor a vendor table for the Thursday evening hospitality reception and demonstrations.
